Fiction & Romance Editing

Voice-respecting editing for emotionally-driven storytelling.

Romance is built on emotional precision.

The pacing of tension.
The rhythm of dialogue.
The consistency of character voice.
The details that keep readers immersed.

My role is to strengthen clarity and technical accuracy without flattening the emotional core of your story.

I work with authors across all subgenres, including contemporary, historical, fantasy, and paranormal romance. I welcome stories by and about LGBTQ+ people and stories centered on diverse relationship dynamics.

Why Authors Choose Me

Your story remains yours—only stronger.

Romance Copy Editing

Best for: Completed manuscripts ready for professional refinement prior to publication or submission.

Copy editing focuses on correctness, clarity, and consistency at the sentence level while preserving your unique voice and tone. Copy editing assumes the manuscript’s structure, plot, and character arcs are already in place.

Includes:

  • Correction of grammar, punctuation, and syntax

  • Formatting and punctuation of dialogue

  • Consistency checks (character names, timelines, world-building terminology)

  • Continuity tracking across scenes

  • Reduction of unintentional repetition

  • Editorial queries for unclear or contradictory passages

  • Creation of a style sheet (for series books).

Editorial Fees: Copy editing for fiction typically ranges from $0.018–$0.025 per word. Final pricing is determined by manuscript condition and scope.

Copy Editing Plus

Best for: Authors who want deeper sentence-level refinement while maintaining full control over story direction.

Copy editing plus strengthens how the story is told at the sentence level—not what the story is about.

Includes everything in standard copy editing, plus:

  • Enhanced sentence flow and rhythm refinement

  • Subtle tightening of dialogue

  • Reduction of filler phrasing and repetition

  • Line-level adjustments for readability and impact

  • Attention to cadence and narrative consistency.

This service does not include developmental editing, scene restructuring, or plot revision.

Editorial Fees: Copy editing plus for fiction typically ranges from $0.025–$0.040 per word. Final pricing is determined by manuscript condition and scope.

On Genre Conventions & Explicit Content

Romance readers have clear expectations—and so do authors.

I respect genre tropes, emotional intensity, and explicit content. My role is not to sanitize your manuscript, but to ensure clarity, coherence, and consistency while preserving its heat and emotional depth.

Why My Background Matters

My professional background in academic and technical editing means I bring exceptional attention to detail to fiction manuscripts.

That precision is especially valuable when it comes to:

  • Historical timelines

  • Fantasy and paranormal world-building

  • Series continuity

  • Character consistency across long arcs.

Romance thrives on immersion. Technical distractions pull readers out of that experience. My job is to remove those distractions.

The Editorial Process
